JOE NOVELLO

BIO:   Joe is the founder and captain of KAOS.  He has been involved with traditional seine boat rowing his entire life.  He is the heart and soul of the sport.


TIM OAKES

CREW YEARS:  2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023

BIO:   If KAOS is the greatest seine boat crew of all time, then Tim is the greatest seine boat scuttler of all time.  His steering skill and competitive drive is unmatched.  Tim also coaches and scuttles for a Junior girls crew, the "Lady Lukes", who won the 2023 seine boat championship.


ERIC DOMBROWSKI

POSITIONSTARBOARD 5 / STROKE

HEIGHT/WEIGHT:  5'11", 210lbs

CREW YEARS:  2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023

BIO:   Eric has been rowing for KAOS almost since the beginning.  He is a decorated traditional dory rower, having competed for the United States multiple times in the International Dory races in both singles and doubles categories.  Eric also coaches youth rowing and has helped many aspiring athletes to develop into powerhouse competitors.


JAY HILLEBRECHT

POSITIONPORT 5 / STROKE

HEIGHT/WEIGHT6'3", 210lbs

CREW YEARS:  2022, 2023

BIO:   Jay rowed competitively for Syracuse in the late 90s, and leads KAOS' turning-side crew.  He is a constant source of inspirational quotes and memes, driving the crew to continue the intensity througout the offseason.


TOM CONRAD

POSITIONSTARBOARD 4 / ENGINE ROOM

HEIGHT/WEIGHT:  5'11", 190lbs (all iron)

CREW YEARS:  2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023

BIO:   A lifelong seine boat rower, Tom Conrad holds the distinction of winning at least one seine boat championship in the past five decades, including every one of KAOS' seven victories.


MIKE TARANTINO

POSITIONPORT 4 / ENGINE ROOM

HEIGHT/WEIGHT:  5'11", 225lbs

CREW YEARS:  2022, 2023

BIO:   A Gloucester native, Mike is a GHS football alumnus and a coach/trainer for Tidal Fitness.  Mike is no stranger to standing on top of the podium, having won the championship in 2018 with Iron Village, and again in 2023 with KAOS.  When Mike isn't rowing, he's inspiring his son to pick up the oars, and some day, the entire boat.


BRIAN DURIE

POSITIONSTARBOARD 3 / ENGINE ROOM

HEIGHT/WEIGHT6'1", 245lbs

CREW YEARS:  2018, 2019, 2022, 2023

BIO:   Brian played collegiate football at St. Anselm College in the early 2000s.  Post-college he began powerlifting and has found the Engine Room to be a natural fit for his intense strength.  When not heaving chunks of iron and his son Clark into the air, Brian practices Cold Water Immersion therapy and Japanese Taikokyu stretching.


WALLY MEARS

POSITIONPORT 3 / ENGINE ROOM

CREW YEARS:  2017, 2018, 2019, 2023

BIO:   After a brief hiatus, Wally returned to KAOS in 2023 to help propel the team to its 7th championship.  When not rowing with the crew you can find Wally grinding out Crossfit WODs and competing in strongman competitions and physical challenges of various types.  He contributes his intensity and merch-generating ability to KAOS.

NICK DRAYEr

POSITIONSTARBOARD 2 / FORWARD OAR

HEIGHT/WEIGHT6'8", 220lbs

CREW YEARS:  2022, 2023

BIO:   A Cape Ann native, Nick is a lifelong multi-sport enthusiast, having played collegiate basketball for St. Joseph's College of Maine in addition to pursuing many outdoor activities on the island including surfing, mountain biking, and seine boat rowing.  He brings his competitive attitude and amazing reach to KAOS.


Glenn Harrington

POSITIONPORT 2 / FORWARD OAR

CREW YEARS:  2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

BIO:   Glenn is one of the KAOS originals, serving on the turning side for twenty years.  After moving to Maine in 2020, Glenn returned to KAOS for the 2024 season, trading in his traditional stroke seat for the forward oar position.

JOE SANFILIPPO

BIO:   Joe Sans has been part of every KAOS crew since the beginning.  He's also a championship singles and doubles traditional Banks Dory racer, having competed in the International Dory Races both in the United States and Canada.  Joe is the team's quiet professional, instilling his championship experience and winning attitude in all of us.


MATT DRAYER

POSITIONPORT 1 / BOW

CREW YEARS:  2019, 2022, 2023

BIO:   Matt has been rowing bow for KAOS since 2019.  When not grinding out thousands of erg-meters, you can find him climbing frozen waterfalls in New Hampshire or battling great white sharks off the North Shore.  He contributes his precise technical rowing skill and unwavering positive disposition to KAOS.
